Heritage Lecture

Heritage, verbiage, and reflections on a half-century of entomology

John Acorn, University of Alberta

John Acorn is a lifelong naturalist, born in Edmonton and raised on his fascination with the biota of Alberta. With a background in ecology and evolution, and an interest in insects, birds, fossils, and just about anything else zoological, John is best known for his twenty-some books, and his former television series “Acorn, The Nature Nut”. John is a member of the faculty at the University of Alberta, where he teaches biodiversity, field ornithology, park management, and science communication. He is most proud of his family, and his students, a majority of whom study insect ecology.
