University of Calgary Invertebrate Collections Tour
We will be running tours of the UCalgary invertebrate collections between 9am-12pm on Sunday, October 5th. Come take a browse of our impressive 1.75 million insect specimens! The collection boasts specimens from all over the world with particular strengths the Calgary area, Kananaskis Valley, Waterton Lakes, Yoho and Kootenay National parks. UCalgary professors Dr. Jessica Theodor (Museums director) and Dr. Jackie Lebenzon (EntSoc LOC member) will take you through our small but mighty rooms to get you excited for the conference ahead and give you a chance to connect with your fellow Entomologists.
There are 15 spots per time slot and slots will be first come, first serve. We will reach out to the first 15 registrants in each time slot to coordinate closer to the date. Please sign up using this google forms link.
The collections are housed in the Biological Sciences Building (BI), located at 2500 University Dr NW. From the convention centre, the trip takes about 23 minutes by car or roughly 1 hour by train. Paid parking is available nearby in Lot 25 or Lot 21. Please plan to meet at the South entrance of BI a few minutes before your scheduled tour time.
